There are two separate problems here — your site may not be indexed (Google doesn’t know it exists) or it may be indexed but not ranking (Google knows, but places competitors above you) — and they need completely different fixes. You can tell which one you have in five minutes.
Start with the test, because everything else depends on the answer.
The five-minute test
- Search
site:yourdomain.in(your own domain, no space after the colon). If nothing appears, the site isn’t indexed. That’s a technical problem, and often free to fix. - Search your exact business name. If you appear, indexing works. Move to step 3.
- Search what a customer would type — “office interiors Noida”, “CA for GST filing Gurugram”. Not there? That’s a ranking problem, which is normal for a new site and is ongoing work, not a defect.
| Result | Diagnosis | What it needs |
|---|---|---|
site: search shows nothing |
Not indexed | Submit the site; check it isn’t blocked |
| Business name search shows you | Indexed | Nothing technical — this part is working |
| Service+city search doesn’t show you | Not ranking | SEO over months, or ads for immediate visibility |
| You rank but get no enquiries | Traffic exists, page doesn’t convert | The page, not Google |
If you aren’t indexed
Usual causes, in order of how often they appear:
- The site was never submitted. Add the site to Google Search Console and request indexing. Free, and often the whole fix.
- A “noindex” tag was left on. Developers set this during construction to keep unfinished sites out of search and sometimes forget to remove it at launch. Worth asking your developer directly: “is the site set to noindex?”
- The site is too new. Days-old sites often haven’t been crawled yet. A week or two is normal.
- Thin or duplicated pages. A page with two lines of text and a stock image may be crawled and ignored.
If you’re indexed but not ranking
This is where most owners actually are, and where the honest explanation matters.
Ranking for a competitive commercial phrase means Google has decided your page answers it better than the pages currently above you. Those pages usually have more content, more links, and more history. Closing that gap is months of work — writing genuinely useful pages, getting your Google Business Profile complete and reviewed, and earning links.
Two things worth knowing so you’re not misled:
Ranking for your own business name proves nothing about SEO. It happens automatically because nothing competes for it. It is a common source of false comfort.
“SEO-friendly” in a website quote is not “will rank”. It means the site is built so it can be optimised — clean structure, sensible headings, indexable pages. That’s the starting line, not the outcome. If ranking was expected and never quoted as ongoing work, the gap is in the conversation, not necessarily in the build.
Also check the phone: over 80% of Indian web traffic is mobile, and a site that’s slow or awkward on a phone struggles regardless of how well it’s optimised.
What produces visibility faster than SEO
If you need to be found this month rather than next year:
- Google Business Profile, completed properly with photos, hours, service area and reviews. For local trades this often produces calls before the website does anything.
- Search ads, which put you at the top for chosen phrases immediately and stop when you stop paying.
- The channels you already have — WhatsApp, Instagram, existing customers — pointed at the site.
None of these replaces SEO; they buy time while it builds.
What to do this week
- Run the
site:search. If empty, add the site to Google Search Console and request indexing. - Ask your developer whether a noindex tag is set, and whether a sitemap was submitted.
- Complete your Google Business Profile if you serve local customers.
- Open the site on your phone on mobile data and note load time.
- Decide whether you need visibility now (ads, GBP) or can build it (SEO). Pick deliberately rather than waiting.
If you want it done the certain way
We’ll check indexing and mobile performance before recommending any spend — sometimes the fix is a free Search Console submission, not a project, and we’ll say that. We don’t promise rankings, because nobody honestly can. WhatsApp us; we reply in about five minutes between 9am and 7pm.

FAQ
How long does it take for a new website to appear on Google?
Indexing can happen within days of submission through Search Console. Ranking for competitive commercial searches is a separate, months-long effort — the two are often confused.
Why does my business name show up but not my services?
Nothing competes for your business name, so that result is automatic. Service searches have competing pages with more content and history, which is what SEO work addresses.
Can I pay to appear on Google immediately?
Yes, through search ads, which place you at the top for chosen phrases while you’re paying. It’s a different purchase from SEO and doesn’t build lasting position on its own.
